Penelope J. Haskell, of Fulton and Key Colony Beach, FL, passed away last Thursday at Francis House in Syracuse.
She was surrounded with the love of her family and the presence of God. She could not have passed away at a more beautiful and serene place. She was meant to be at Francis House, where love is abundant and God's work is shown through the caring hearts of so many. She left this world as gracefully as she lived.
The life of Penelope J. Haskell was celebrated in a small, private, intimate, loving and beautiful service at Trinity Episcopal Church in Fayetteville on June 19. Her service was a true reflection of the woman she was. Father William Redfield directed the service and offered such kindness and love to her family.
As her spirit enters the gates of Heaven, we will remember her incredible presence here on Earth. She devoted her life to her family. She loved and adored her husband of 39 years, Wally Haskell of Fulton and Key Colony Beach, FL. She cherished her daughters, Kimberley Abrams of Fayetteville and Pamela Kinane of Baldwinsville. She was grateful for her sons-in-law, David Abrams and Patrick Kinane. Her greatest joys were her three grandchildren, Alex, Anna and Ryan. They will never forget their "Mama." Her mother, Mary E. Howell, and her sister, Hope E. Howell, were very important to her, and she was blessed to have some wonderful time with them before she left this world.
Penny lived an amazing life. She graduated from the American Community School in Beirut, Lebanon, as well as Cazenovia College. She traveled the world and experienced more than anyone could imagine. She appreciated the simple things in life. She touched so many hearts throughout her life. She had a great love and respect for nature and animals. She never took anything or anyone for granted. She created her own tropical paradise with her husband, Wally, in the Florida Keys and was loved by so many people.
Penny was not afraid to die. She was curious about what was on the other side. She knew angels were all around her, waiting to gracefully guide her into her next life. As each one of us let her go and made our peace with God, she took a step closer to Heaven - small steps, privately, intimately, lovingly and beautifully. We are certain that her spirit will guide us throughout our lives. Our Lord has a beautiful new angel. Her spirit will deeply comfort us and love us until we are reunited someday.
