  The following note is copied from Darryl Rowles, Pennsylvania and New England Genealogy, posted on Ancestry.com Newspaper clipping from April 21, 1919. The funeral of Captain Elmer O. Black, who was shot by one of his crew at Barbados,West Indies, was held the Methodist church under the direction of the Masons, Sunday, April 20 (1919). Internment was at the Sylvester Condon cemetery. Captain Black had always been a resident of this place, and had followed the sea. He leaves a widow, two children and an aged father and mother. The body was accompanied from New York by a brother, Irwin, of Mt. Vernon, New York. According to family tradition, after the death of Cpt. Owen Black, the man who shot him, (who was I believe his first mate?), ended up marrying Maude, Owen's wife.
