Lois (Smith) Haskell, 81, of South Windsor, wife of the late Arthur Haskell, Jr., passed away peacefully on Friday, October 16, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Hartford, the daughter of the late William and Helen (Gaffney) Smith, she grew up and lived in Hartford before moving to South Windsor over 57 years ago.
Prior to her retirement in 1986, Lois was a medical secretary at Stoker Chiropractic office in Manchester for several years. She previously worked as a medical secretary at various doctors' offices in the area.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She especially liked to spend time with her grandchildren.
She was a member of Crossroads Community Cathedral in East Hartford. Lois liked to volunteer to provide office support at the church. She also enjoyed crocheting.
She is survived by her beloved children, Linda Mullen and her husband Jeffrey of Manchester, Arthur Haskell, III and his wife Judith of Sunderland, MA, Robert Haskell and his girlfriend Maria Reyes of East Hartford, and Susan Gundersen and her husband Mark of Manchester; five grandchildren, Joshua Mullen, Jesse Mullen and his girlfriend Chelsea Paradis, Charles Gundersen and his wife Daniela, Robert Gundersen and his wife Elizabeth, and Jennifer Uhrig and her husband Micheal; six great grandchildren; a brother, Thomas Smith and his wife Nancy of Old Lyme; a sister, Rita Mercier and her husband Jean of Palm Harbor, FL, and many nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by her sister, Doris Smith, and her brother, William Smith.
