Robert Ivan Streeter, 72, of 3675 Fairview Drive, Cortland, NY died Tuesday, March 18, 1997 at Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Streeter was born October 5, 1924 in Venice Center, Cayuga County, NY, a son of the late Ivan J. and Florence Atwater Streeter. A resident of Cortland for 50 years, Robert served in the European Theater with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Cortland City Post 489, American Legion and a 50-year member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1512. He was married July 20, 1947 to the former Marian Jean Ellis in Gorham, NY. He was a self employed building contractor for 32 years and retired from Gutchess Lumber in 1989 after 11 years service.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Marian Ellis Streeter of Cortland, two sons, Gary Streeter of Port Charlotte, Fl and Richard (Marie) Streeter of Groton; two daughters, Barbara (Robert) Bergeron of Homer and Cynthia (Patrick) Finsterwalder of Cortland; two brothers, Willis (Lucille) Streeter, Sr. of McGraw and Stanley (Marie) Streeter of Port St. Lucie, Fl; a sister, Ruth (John) Doll of Dryden; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
