  The Pantagraph (Bloomington, IL) June 4, 1995 LeROY - Merrill E. "Diz" Dean, 66, of LeRoy died at 9:06 p.m. Friday (June 2, 1995) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal. Mr. Dean was born April 11, 1929, at Mount Sinai, Ind., the son of Harry and Clara Belle Peck Dean. He married Eljean Benning April 9, 1952, at Aurora, Ind. She survives. Also surviving are four sons, Richard and Clayton Harry, both of LeRoy; Thomas, Lexington; and Lynn, Champaign; three daughters, Catherine Frasor, Lexington; Julie Exum, Torrance, Calif.; and Cheryl Shepherd, Bloomington; one brother, Harry Dean, Aurora, Ind.; two sisters, Marge Waldon, Aurora, Ind.; and Delores Strunk, Lawrenceberg, Ind.; and 12 grandchildren. One brother preceded him in death. He farmed in the Anchor and LeRoy area for 42 years and was an avid fisherman. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, LeRoy Country Club, LeRoy Sportsman's Club, Bloomington Elks Lodge; and the National Rifle Association.
