LeROY - Richard T. "Dick" Dean, 57, LeRoy, passed away at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday (Jan. 6, 2010) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Mr. Dean was born Oct. 11, 1952, in Batesville, Ind., to Merrill E. and Eljean H. Benning Dean. He married Martha E. Fares on April 23, 1983, in Peoria. She survives in LeRoy.
Also surviving are his mother, Eljean H. Dean, LeRoy; one son, Elliott R. Dean, at home in LeRoy; three brothers, Thomas E. (Debra) Dean, Lexington; Lynn J. (Anne) Dean, Champaign; and Clayton H. (Kris) Dean, LeRoy; and three sisters, Cathy M. (Ross Barclay) Frasor, Lexington; Julie D. (Mike) Exum, Torrance, Calif.; and Cheryl L. (Larry) Shepherd, Heyworth.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Dick was retired from IDOT. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, LeRoy, where he served as an elder. He was an Empire Township trustee, a member of the Bloomington Jaycees and a Democratic Precinct committeeman. He coached LeRoy Summer League and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, Cincinnati Reds fan and Purdue Boilermakers fan.
Through his 30 years of health problems he gave unselfishly to his family, friends and community. He was a good and faithful servant of the Lord. He was a loving son, brother and uncle; and his wife and son were the light of his life.
