  The Pantagraph, Bloomington, Illinois January 14, 2004 Elbert M. Hail, 80, of LeRoy died at 10:30 a.m. on Friday (Jan. 9, 2004) at home. Mr. Hail was born on April 6, 1923 in Strawberry, Ky. He was the son of Charles L. and Lola D. Williams Hail. He married Dorothy P. Cave on April 5, 1947, in Bloomington. She preceded him in death on March 7, 1995. Mr. Hail was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He received the Asiatic Pacific service ribbon and six bronze stars. He also received the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two bronze stars and both of these ribbons were presented to Mr. Hail by the fleet Executive Officer of the U.S.S. Washington. He worked for General Electric Company for 30 years in maintenance. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association. He is survived by one son, Michael E. Hail of LeRoy; one daughter, Marsha L. (Randy) Ehlers of LeRoy; four grandchildren, Eric M. Hail of LeRoy, Dawn M. (Shaun) Cotter of Morton, Benjamin W. Brickey of Normal, and Ashlee N. Brickey of LeRoy; and two great-grandchildren, Nathan M. Hail and Carley J. Hail, both of Heyworth. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Hail, who died in WWII. He was a member of the Ruel Neal American Legion Post 79 of LeRoy, IOOF LeRoy Lodge 149 of LeRoy, and a member of the LeRoy First United Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and elder.
