  The Tampa Tribune September 13, 2006 CARLTON, Elbert Jehu "E.J.," born August 27, 1909, in Tampa, died September 9, 2006, at Melech Hospice Hospice in Tampa. He retired from Gulf Life Insurance after 29 years as a super-intendent. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church for 40 years and the National Underwriters Association. He was pre-deceased by his parents; brother, S.H. Allen; sister, Gladys Carlton; and stepson, Ronnie Perkins. He is survived by his wife, Betty Carlton; daughters, Reba Platt, Gay Carlton, Fay Barger and Cathy Anderson; 10 grand-children, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grand-children; and brothers, W.H.
