  The Morning Journal (Lorain, OH) January 5, 2002 ELYRIA - Geoffrey V. Collister, 83, of Elyria, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at the Northridge Health Center, North Ridgeville, following a long illness. He was born Sept. 12, 1918, in Painesville and graduated from Painesville Harvey High School in 1936. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He attended Purdue University and graduated from the Ohio State University in 1947 with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. He was employed by Chrysler Corp. from 1947 to 1960, and from 1961 until his retirement in 1978 he worked for NASA at the Lewis Research Center in Cleveland. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Elyria, and Plymouth Rock Lodge 47 F&AM, Plymouth, Mich. Among his hobbies was making clocks. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Phyllis Collister (nee Black); sons Scott B. and Bruce W. Collister, both of San Rafael, Calif., and Mark B. Collister of New York City; daughter, Sue Ellen Collister of New York City, and brother, William N. of San Leandro, Calif. He was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Benner.
