  Brookline TAB (MA) April 26, 2007 William H. Crawford died Friday, April 20, 2007, at Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol. He was 96. Formerly a longtime resident of Brookline, he was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University, and earned a doctorate degree in philosophy from Washington University in St. Louis. He was a retired commander in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Crawford was a retired president of New England Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences, a longtime member of United Parish in Brookline and a Rotarian. He leaves his wife of 29 years, Ruth Crawford; his stepchildren, Kirk James of Brookline, Elizabeth Kincannon of Wayland, Kyle Carey of Oakham and Barbara Rainey of Arizona; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews, William Jennings of Wareham, Andrew Jennings of Billerica, Ralph Jennings of Nebraska, Helen Lievre of Connecticut, Catherine Bander of Virginia, Francis Asano of Washington and John Bander of Oregon. He was husband of the late Jane Crawford, brother of the late Emma Jennings and Helen Bander, and grandfather of the late Peter James.
