A gathering will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, in McMenamin's Kennedy School for Evelyn M. Stuart, who died Dec. 21, 2006, of Alzheimer's disease at age 88.
Evelyn M. Arnston was born April 15, 1918, in Glendive, Mont. She graduated from Northern Montana College and later received two master's degrees from Oregon State University. She moved to Portland in 1942 and worked in the shipyards during World War II. She taught first grade at John Ball Elementary School in Portland and then was a special education teacher for the Reynolds School District for about 10 years. In about 1944, she married Charles E. Sr.; he died in 1978.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy Watson; sons, Charles E. Jr. and Dr. Roger; sisters, Millie Castillo and Doris Farmer; brothers, Clifford Arnston and Raymond Arnston; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
