Dorothy ''Pete'' M. Petras McKinney, 74, of Collyer Brook Road died of cancer Monday at her home. She moved here 10 years ago.
She was born in Tewksbury, Mass., and made her home with the George W. Austin family in Wakefield, Mass. She was a 1938 graduate of Wakefield High School and took several college business courses.
She worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, Never-Oil Co. and L.B. Evans Shoe Co. in Wakefield. Mrs. McKinney was a Girl Scout and a Scout leader for 20 years in Wakefield. At the First Universalist Church in Wakefield, she sang in the choir and was also a soloist.
In 1946, she married the Rev. Earle T. McKinney.
She lived in Foxboro, Mass., Manson, Mass., Urbana, Ill., Portland, Wilbraham, Mass., and Caribou.
She was president of Greater Portland Women of Rotary from 1966 to 1967, served a term as national secretary of the Association of Universalist Women, was co-president of the Caribou Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary and treasurer of the Caribou Choral Society. She read more than 1,200 mystery stories and enjoyed cats.
Surviving, besides her husband, are a nephew, a niece and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
