  Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram April 16, 2008 PORTLAND -- Norma L. Boyd Austin, 83, resident of Brook Street in Westbrook died Monday, April 14, 2008, at Maine Medical Center in Portland. She was born Dec. 27, 1924, in Newton, Mass., the daughter of Stanley and Gladys (Potter) Boyd. She was educated in Maine schools and graduated from Deering High School in Portland. Mrs. Austin was employed as a personnel manager for many years for Sears department stores. Norma had been very active with the Hospice program and was a co-founder of Hospice of Maine. She enjoyed photography and traveling. Together with her husband she had traveled to many countries in the world and had written and published a book We've been there which contained her own pictures of the places they had been to. She also enjoyed tending to her plants at home and liked to play cards with her family and friends. Norma had a particular fondness for the Christmas holiday and always looked forward to entertaining friends and family at her home for the holiday. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert R. Austin of Westbrook; three children, Bonita L. Austin of Bridgewater, Mass., Stanley B. Austin of Saco, Randall K. Austin of Windham; a brother, Harold D. Ferguson of Otisfield; seven grandchildren, George R. Austin, Jessica L. Austin, Stephen J. Savage, Thomas G. Savage, Nicholas R. Lombardo, Randall A. Austin and Tucker G. Austin and three great-grandchildren.
