Helen Lillian Stanton Bray, 92, of 707 W. Main St., Vevay, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at the Swiss Villa Living Center in Vevay.
She was born March 31, 1911, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Harry Grant and Verna Doyle Vernon Stanton. She and her husband, Earl August Bray, spent many years farming together until they moved to Vevay in 1973. She worked as a cook for eight years at the Jeff-Craig Elementary School in Vevay and for one year at the old Swiss Inn. She was also a caregiver. She was a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and clerk for many years, and was a member of the Missionary Circle. She was also a member of the Riverview Homemaker's Club and of the Switzerland County Farm Bureau.
Surviving are one son, Bernard Leon Bray, of Talladega, Ala.; two grandchildren; and 11 nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, May 28, 1998; three sisters, Lena Mae Long, Mary King and Minnie Sheets; one brother, John Edwin Stanton; and one nephew.
