ILION - Mr. Walter F. "Red" Biddlecome, age 79, of Rockwell Drive, Ilion, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, August 23, 2011, in Heritage Healthcare, Utica.
He was born on January 10, 1931, in Utica, son of the late Walter and Florence (Christman) Biddlecome, and educated in Utica schools. He married the former June Ladd who passed away in 1978.
He was united in marriage to the former Camilla Masten, a devoted union of 33 years. Red was last employed with the Town of Russia Maintenance Dept. as a snow plow operator, retiring after 10 years of dedicated service. He owned and operated his own auto repair garage in Utica at one time.
In his early years, Mr. Biddlecome was a talented and accomplished stock car driver and was eventually entered into the West Winfield Stock Car Hall of Fame. He had a passion for NASCAR racing and was a huge Dale Earnhardt, Sr., fan.
Survivors include his beloved family: his wife, Camilla, at home; a son, Walter Biddlecome, Jr., of California; daughters, Lynne Crim and husband, Paul, of Ilion, and Cheryl Howard and fiance, J.R. Vilardi, of Ilion; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Biddlecome; in laws, Herbert Masten and Jack Masten and wife, Audrey; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Biddlecome.
