STONINGTON - Eleanor B. Eaton, 85, died at the Island Nursing Home, April 11, 2002, surrounded by her family.
She was born Dec. 10, 1916, at Deer Isle, the daughter of Emery and Geneva (Marshall) Barbour.
She was a past noble grand and 50 years member of the Rockbound Rebekah Lodge of Stonington, a past member of the Deer Isle Grange and was a member of the Deer Isle Congregational Church. She was a graduate of the Castine Normal School and taught for several years before raising a family. She enjoyed cooking, and her donuts will be especially missed by her family and friends. Eleanor's family was special to her, and the time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was precious to her.
She is survived by her five children, William and his wife, Nancy of Centerville, Mass., Carroll and his wife, Janice of Marstons Mills, Mass., Richard and his wife, Wilda, Elaine Parke and her husband, Richard and Rosalie Robbins and her husband, Steven, all of Stonington; 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Harold in 1970; a daughter, Rebecca in 1992; a grandson, Andrew in 2000; a sister, Alice; and a brother, Douglas.
