Elsie I. Skinner passed away on July 12, 2009, in Redlands, CA at age 91.
Elsie was born in Gresham, NE.
She was a devout Christian, a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She loved life and was very proud of her family as well as her extended family. Her love of teaching and children lasted throughout her life to which she could always be counted on to comfort and lend guidance by giving a moment to listen, to share a hug, to devise a solution and to ultimately cement all things in prayer. She was a preacher's wife, a knowledgeable healthcare clinician and teacher influencing the lives of those around her.
Elsie will be greatly missed by, not only family and friends, but by communities and people she had the chance to meet and witness to during her travels to visit her children on and off the mission fields worldwide.
Her love of God, family and church was extended to two natural sons and seventeen additional children were raised to adulthood. Known as a strong, calm person she was loved, respected, revered and sought as a "shade-giving tree in a desolate land, a sheltering rock in a storm." Living a life of ideal attitude and conduct, she taught that through prayer, faith, endurance and patience all things are possible.
Elsie was a nurse at Linda Valley Convalescent Hospital up until the age of 76.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Rev. Orrin Skinner, and she was the last of seven siblings. She leaves two natural sons: Wayne Skinner of Virginia Beach, VA and William Skinner of Michigan; and three daughters: Pamela Cain of Warrington, PA; Brenda Lehi and Nadine Dailey of Redlands, CA as well as numerous family members.
