  Cape Cod Times (Hyannis, MA) June 14, 2003 Lawrence R Leonard, 87, died yesterday. Born In Taunton, he was raised and educated In Taunton and Sag Harbor, N.Y., and lived on a schooner with his family as a young man. He was an Army Air Corps veteran Of World War II, serving In Saipan, Guam and Florida. During his working career he was a machinist at United Tool & Machine Co. In Taunton and an electrical contractor In Orleans for 52 years before retiring. A Mason, he was active In several chapters throughout the Cape. He was also active In several other organizations, including Orleans Rotary, where he was past president, Orleans Yacht Club and Aleppo Shrine. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Leonard Of Orleans; a son, Lawrence R. Leonard Jr. Of West Warwick, R.I.; two daughters, Janet Leonard Of Eastham and Joanne Roth Of Punta Gorda, Fla.; four stepchildren, Douglas Higgins Of Canada, Thomas Higgins Of Colorado, Gorgette Eldredge Of Florida and Peter Higgins Of Sandwich; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
