  unknown newspaper Alan Lynn Petersen was born January 1, 1946 in Logan, Utah to Ira Lynn and Ione Allen Petersen. Alan spent his childood in Hyrum, Utah and Soda Springs, Idaho. He served in the United States Army from November 1965 to October 1976 and was honorably discharged. He spent two and one half years in Vietnam. He earned the following awards. Distinguished Flying Cross, Silver Star, Air Medal and Army Commendation. He is survived by 3 Children, Lynn Marie Van Dinter, Brandilyn Sue Billings and John Ira Lee. Also surviving him is his Mother, Ione and his sisters and their families. Marcia Ann Solum, Garden City, Utah, Kathleen Wakeling, Upland, California, Jolene Jolley Salt Lake City, Utah and Sherrie Lloyd of Phoenix, Arizona. Alan passed away July 31, 2012 in Salt Lake City, Utah. A celebration of Alan's life was held for family and friends August 5, 2012. It was Alan's wish to have his ashes scattered on Puget Sound in Washington State, there is a memorial marker in the Hyrum City Cemetery next to his parents.
