"The Bear"

Sandy Morris, age 73, died peacefully in his sleep at his home after a long and hard illness.
Sandy had a big heart, easy-going personality, and was loved by all that knew him. His greatest attribute was his kindness to all people. He loved the outdoors, animals, the game of golf, the stock market, football, the U of U, being a "Beta", Civil War history, and , above all, his children.
Sandy was born July 27, 1929 in Salt Lake City to Nola Page Morris and Thornton Dinwoodey Morris (Spide). He attended Wasatch Elementary, Bryant Junior High, and East High School. In his grade school days, Sandy was a strong member of the "Arlington Drive Alligators" where his athletic career began. He spent many summers in Brighton, Utah in the Morris family cabin and enjoyed riding his horse in the mountains. He then attended the University of Utah where he earned a football scholarship and went on to receive 1st Team All Conference Honors as The Redskins went on to win the Skyline Conference Championship. During his stay at University of Utah he was affiliated with Beta Theta Pi Fraternity and because of his gregarious personality and stout build become known thereafter simply as "The Bear." He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon).
With Lucille Douglas, whom he married in 1951, they had Mindy, Doug and Dallin. In 1965 he married Denise Dozzi and from that union they had a daughter, Danielle. On April 1, 1980, he married Jeanne Loring in Carmel, Ca. Sandy was an accomplished low handicap golfer and throughout their lives they shared a great love for the game of golf. They each loved, needed and took care of each other.
Sandy had a long career as a stockbroker in Salt Lake City with "Morris and Company", in partnership with his father Spide and brother Rick, and later with ACAP Financial.
He is survived by his wife Jean, who has lovingly cared for him; her children: Brick (Georgette) Loring, and Pamela (Jan) Bjernfalk, Salt Lake City; and his children: Mindy (Jeff) Dunn, Doug (Donna) Morris, Dallin Morris and Danielle (Brenton) Cooper. He is also survived by his brothers Robert P. Morris (Rob), Richard L. Morris (Rick); grandchildren: Chad Morris, Steven Morris, David Dunn, Eric Dunn, Danielle Dunn and Miles Cooper; and several nieces and nephews from the Morris Clan.
Preceded in death by father Thornton D. Morris (Spide), mother Nola P. Morris, brother Thornton D. Morris, Jr (Din) and his first wife, Lucille Douglas Morris.
