Travis Michael George Haskell was welcomed into the arms of our heavenly father on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017.
Travis was born in Crescent City, Calif., on Sept. 25, 1984. He grew up in southern Oregon until joined the Army as an Infantry Solider Specialist in 2004. He proudly served his country with four years of service. During this time, he assisted with Hurricane Katrina relief and New Mexico border patrol. When receiving his orders to leave for combat in Iraq, he did not hesitate. He strongly believed in serving, protecting his country, helping others and he was committed to his fellow soldiers. While in the service he received numerous awards and medals such as; National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Meal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve and his Driver Mechanic Badge with Driver.
Travis enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and target shooting. His laid-back personality and outrageous sense of humor always left you wanting more. Although he did not have children of his own, children were naturally drawn to his gentle nature and playful spirit. There wasnt anything he wouldn't do for a child in need, even if it was just a gentle hug or a word of encouragement. He loved his large family and enjoyed family gatherings and reminiscing about childhood memories. He was the comedian of the family and always left them feeling loved, accepted and full of laughter.
Travis leaves behind an unborn child; a mother and stepfather, Sue and Sal Benavides of California; a father and stepmother, Mike and Janelle Haskell of Oregon; his sisters, Darcy Bishop, Marcy Lawson, Tammy Robbins and Michelle Warner; brothers, Sal Benavides Jr. and Andrew Medline; stepsister, Stacey Benavides; stepbrother, Steven Benavides; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
