  Weston Chandler Funeral Home Edward E. Martin of Harrison, ME passed away after a long illness Saturday March 27. 2010 at Maine Veterans Home in South Paris, ME. He was born on August 27, 1920 in Harrison, ME, the son of Carroll and Jennie (Little) Martin. Edward graduated from Bridgton Academy in 1939. He entered the United States Army Air Corps on November 6, 1942 and served with the 405 Fighter Squadron, in the European theater in World War II. He was discharged in 1945 with the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, EAMET Campaign Ribbon and the (Soldier's Medal) Bronze Medal for courageous action by quickly dismantling a 500 lb. bomb that fell from the wing of an allied plane onto the landing strip. He was a charter member, past Post Commander of VFW Post 9328 Harrison, ME; member and Past Commander and Past Adjunctant of the American Legion 39 of Harrison, ME; past president and life member of Caswell Public Library, member of the Harrison Historical Society, member of Harrison Friendly Riders Snowmobile Club of Harrison, ME and a member of the Swinging Pine Cones Square Dance Club of Casco, ME. He also was past member of the Harrison Lions. Edward worked for Edward S. Tarbox for many years driving a school bus and working in a garage. He worked for the State of Maine Library system on the Bookmobile that traveled around the southern part of Maine and at the State Library in Augusta, ME for 22 years. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time at camp on Stearn's Pond in Sweden, ME, traveling to Aziscohos Lake, senior citizens' bus tours, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and square dancing. Edward was predeceased by his parents, 5 brothers (Stanley, Robert, Richard, Percy and Carroll Jr.) and three sisters (Alice Ashby, Jeanette Perkins and Harriett Martin).
