Wesley Mann, 78 of Murdo, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007 at St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre.
Wesley was born on May 16, 1928 in White Owl, S.D., to Homer and Ethel May Lynn (Speers) Mann. He grew up in White Owl, attended a rural elementary school near his home in Eastern Meade County, and graduated from Sturgis High School in 1947.
Wesley taught rural school for 3 ½ years in Eastern Meade County. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on January 26, 1951. He entered the Korean Conflict with the Counter Intelligence Corps and was stationed in Japan for about one year. He was honorably discharged on January 9, 1953. He received the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. After he was discharged he worked at the Ft. Meade Medical Center in the Registrar's office.
He was united in marriage to Betty Lou Dahlke on June, 7, 1959.
In May of 1962, he and Betty Lou moved to the Ranch at Murdo.
He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, the Vivian Lutheran Church and AQHA. He enjoyed horses and motorcycles.
Wesley is survived by his wife Betty Lou; one son Rodney and Brenda Daniels; one grandson, Teagen Wesley Mann; three brothers: Warren (Jessie), Vernon (Thalia) and Alvin (Peggy) and three sisters: Gladys Arneson, Shirley (Bill) Winchell and Ethel (Walt) Cobb.
