  Find-a-Grave Erwin L. Woodward, 95, formerly of Windham, at the Bridgton Hospital. Born in the town of Columbia, Maine, he was the son of Maurice A., and Edith M. (Allen) Woodward. In 1918, along with his family, he moved to Southport, and in 1921, to Boothbay Harbor, where he was educated in the Boothbay Harbor school system. In 1934, he was employed as a cabinetmaker, in a furniture factory, in Auburn. He remained employed there, until April 1, 1942, when he entered the Army, at the onset of World War II. Serving in Australia, New Guinea, and Layte, in the Philippines, he was discharged, on August 19, 1945. On January 23, 1946, he married Alice Timberlake Sargent, in Hyattsville, Md. Over the years, they lived in several places, including Portland, South Portland, Falmouth, Boothbay Harbor, and Damariscotta. Mrs. Woodward predeceased him in 1973. In 1975, he married Althea M. Jordan Poland, and they moved to Windham. She, also, predeceased him on April 12, 1996. Mr. Woodward attended the Unity Church, in Portland. He enjoyed the citizen band radio, and would monitor channel 12. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias, the Pinecrafters Chapter of the Good Sams Camping Club, and VFW Post #10643. Survivors include his son, Erwin Smith, and his family of South Paris; nephews, Donald Pinkham, of Gorham, and Richard Storer, of Damariscotta, his very dear friend, and caregiver, Edra Long, of Casco; and many more nieces, and nephews.
