Wasilla resident Lisa Renee Kemp, 51, died of cancer May 10, 2008, at Christopher House in Austin, Texas.
She was born Lisa Renee Dobson on Oct. 7, 1956, in Canton, Ohio, to Robert and Dorothy Dobson. She graduated from Christian Ministries High School in Canton in 1975.
Lisa married her high school sweetheart, Wayne Kemp, on Sept. 19, 1976, in Palmer.
She was a talented pianist, seamstress and patternmaker. Lisa's and her husband's interest in furs developed into Denali Fur and Leather, a business where her furrier abilities flourished.
A teacher while her family was young, Lisa later coached track and field and basketball.
Lisa enjoyed the great outdoors, going fishing, camping, bicycling and hiking with her family.
Her family wrote: "Lisa's faith, courage, and fortitude despite obstacles or circumstances were an example of strength and inspiration to all who knew her.
"She showed love and devotion toward her family."
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Wayne Kemp; son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Leeanne Kemp of Wasilla; daughter, Deborah Kemp of Palmer; grandchildren, Quinn and Victoria Kemp of Wasilla; brother, Jeffrey Dobson of Palmer; and brother, Christopher Dobson of Winter Park, Fla.
Lisa was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Douglas Dobson.
