  Omaha World-Herald July 21, 2017 Blakeslee, Eleanor (Knowles) Age 97 Died Saturday, July 15, 2017, in Smithfield, RI. She was the youngest of seven children born to the late Abbott Knowles and Flora Schaffer. She married the late R. Randall Blakeslee and started a family before moving to Rhode Island in 1953. They lived in Omaha, NE, from 1968 to 1976. Eleanor had a career in family life and sex education, substance abuse, and marriage counseling. She worked with CODAC and East Bay Mental Health in Rhode Island and Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. She volunteered in the Girl Scouts, Methodist Youth Fellowship, the PTA, and on the Warwick Youth Advisory Council. She enjoyed gardening, bird-watching, playing the piano, and cross-country camping trips. Eleanor is survived by six sons and daughters and their partners: John Blakeslee; Carolyn Blakeslee and Andrew May; Paul and Jane Blakeslee; David Blakeslee; Linda Blakeslee and Roy Henderson; Peter Blakeslee and DeAnn Stover; plus eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
