Susan Billie Taylor 1960 - 2012
During the early hours of Saturday April 21st, 2012, in San Rafael, California, Susan passed away at the age of 52. Susan was born in Bangor Maine and came out to the Bay Area in 1978 to join the Santa Clara Aquamaids Synchronized Swimming Team. She was a National ranked swimmer and had dreams of being in the first Olympics for Synchronized swimming. Soon after joining, she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease and treated at Stanford University Hospital. As a long-term cancer survivor, she courageously fought the latent effects brought on from chemo and radiation therapy. Her determination and spirit served as an inspiration and example to everyone around her. Susan, an avid writer, wrote and self-published a cookbook - "Cooking as a Meditation," which as the title implies, shows how she lived in the moment, cherishing every day of her life, and never taking anything for granted. Susan was a wonderful, caring, honest, passionate, and brave woman. Just a few of the adjectives left on her FaceBook page by the many people she touched in her life.
She is survived by her mother, Billie Clarke, her brother, Percy Clarke III, and loving husband, Martin.
