March 26,
Naegle, Betty Jean Robson, 84 of Phoenix, Arizona passed away peacefully on March 24, 2009.
Survived by her three children: Linda Curtis, John Naegle and Clarene (Carrie) Butler, their spouses, 13 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.
Betty was born on December 4th, 1924 in Ontario, California, the fourth child of Charles Innes Robson III and Clara Phelps. She and her four sisters: Clarene Barney, Zula Walton, Frankie Decker, and Delcie Hatch, all adored their one brother, Charles Innes Robson IV. As a descendent of pioneer families who settled Mesa,
Betty knew how to work. Her strength and humor in times of trial was appreciated by so many. Betty's high school years were those of leadership (Girls League President), service (GAH TSO, an honorary service club), musicals (Charlie Chaplin dance duo), and assemblies filled with songs and dance. She was a lively ball of fun, with a contagious sense of humor! She received the honor of being crowned Queen of the May at the Mezona in Mesa. She graduated from Mesa High, in 1943. Betty was voted by her classmates as the "girl most likely to succeed" and by the Women's Club as "outstanding senior girl!" Her love, selflessness and compassion for others, influenced her desire to become a nurse. As she neared her senior year of nursing at St. Joseph's Hospital, the war was on and her leadership skills were again sought as she was called upon to supervise the entire hospital during the last six months of training! About the time she was to begin a career as a Cadet Nurse the war ended.
Shortly thereafter she met Conrad Naegle, her gentle giant and the love of her life. They married June 10, 1947.
She continued her nursing career as she raised a family, who adored their Angel Mom. She was a woman of great faith. Her love for the Savior, as she followed His example, was felt by all who knew her. Her church service included: teaching Sunday School, Boy Scout Den Mother, working in Primary, Relief Society Presidencies and other leadership positions. She selflessly shared her big heart, sunny smile, laughter and compassion to support and comfort family, friends, and patients throughout her life. After a brief 2 day stay at Friendship Village Care Center, surrounded by family, a never-ending stream of sisters, nieces, nephews, and friends, she passed away early Tuesday morning leaving a legacy of a kind, gracious woman of Christ for her children, grandchildren, and for generations to come.
