Sophie M. Lucero entered the gates of heaven on Sept. 9, 2016, in Pueblo, Colo., where she resided for the past 38 years.
She was born on Aug. 20, 1931, to the union of Jose and Luisita (Fresquez) Torres in Chacon, N.M.
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Arthur Lucero; granddaughter, Lisa Campbell; son-in-law, Johnny Sisneros.
Survived by her children, Josie (Steve Romero) Salazar, Alice Sisneros, Larry (Marilyn) Lucero, Virginia (Lee) Campbell, Ben (Jamie) Lucero, Liz (Pete) Miera, Phil (Debbie Strankman) Lucero; grandchildren, Debbie (Mike) Kingston, Linda (Keith) Kidd, Dawn (Dave) Arriola, Crystal Sisneros, Deona (Lawrence) Willes, Saretta (Rick) Micciche, Levi Lucero, Alicia (Alphonso) Garcia, Lori Lucero, Pam Lucero, Charity Miera, Jared Miera, Kelli (Matt) Sanchez, Phil Campbell, 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grand-child; sister and best friend, Elia Chadwick; aunt, Vickie Torres; adopted daughter, Mercey Miera; her faithful companion, Starlet; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and loving friends.
Sophie loved God, her family and friends. She was involved in her church and women's ministries throughout her life. Sophie was a caring and loving person and was always willing to help her neighbors and others in need. She enjoyed working in her garden and flower beds, cooking and canning for her family. The family wishes to thank Pastor Bobby Aragon, Dr. Laurence Jensen, Dr. Stephen Vialpando, Frontier Hospice, Romero Funeral Home, neighbor Rick and her caregivers, Charity, Christina and Blakeley for their loving care of Sophie. All of Sophie's children and grandchildren were her "favorite"; she loved us very much and will be greatly missed. Vaya con Dios, Mamma!
