Ronald Lynn Standley was born on August 25, 1945 in Price Utah to William Monterville and Edith Tinder Standley. He was the forth of eight children. We he was in the third grade the family moved to the Richfield area. Ronald attended school at Ashman Elementary, Richfield Jr. High and his sophomore year at Richfield High School.
Ron was married and divorced three times, each time he moved father East working in the mines and timber in Colorado, the oil fields in South Dakota, and the mills in Indiana where he spent the last 30 years. While there Ron went to night school and learned the joys of reading a book and sending a letter or birthday card to his son and grandchildren. He also like to send Christmas cards to his family and friends.
Ron had two sons; the oldest Kevin was killed in an industrial accident while working at the High School in Eureka, Utah. He was only seventeen he had just finished his junior year in school. He had joined the Air Force Delayed entry program , his life dream. His second son Ronald Lynn Jr. lives in Kentucky.
Ron always wanted to move back to Utah when he retired so he could fish and camp in the high country lakes and streams.
Just before Ron's sixty-sixth birthday in August 2011 he was hospitalized with pneumonia. At that time they found out he had stage four cancer. He wanted to go to New Mexico for his cancer treatment. So after he was released from the hospital we moved him there. Before he could get started on his treatment he died on October 26, 2011 in Farmington, New Mexico.
So for his big retirement he only received two months of Social Security benefits. All spent in the hospital, not fishing like he wanted.
