Roswell E. "Ross" Norcross passed away May 31 at the age of 88 years and six days.
He was the son of Alphonso and Rose Gardner Norcross. Ross was one of eight sons born to this family, all of whom preceded him in death. He worked for a time in a machine shop in Bellows Falls, Vermont. In 1902, Ross came to Douglas, Wyoming where he engaged in carpentering, and also worked as a well driller. Later he moved to Esterbrook and was interested in mining for a time.
During World War I, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was attached to the 4th Engineers, Company F, Maple Leaf Division. He was discharged with the rank of Sergeant.
He then returned to Esterbrook. On Nov. 14, 1921, he was united in marriage to Ester Haskell at Arnold, Nebraska. To them was born one son, Daniel Roswell Norcross, who with his family reside at Casper.
Mr. and Mrs. Norcross maintained a home continuously for 47 years at Esterbrook, excepting for the winters. After his health failed they lived in either Glendo or Douglas.
Survivors include his wife, Ester; a son Daniel Norcross; daughter-in-law, Patricia Norcross; five grandsons, Keith, Phillip, Chris, Ross and Kevin; and three granddaughters, Susan, Lisa, and Sarah, all of Casper, Wyoming.
