  Post Register (Idaho Falls, ID) September 24, 2010 Genevieve E. Anderson Nelson, 92, of Idaho Falls, passed away Sept. 21, 2010, at her home of heart failure. She was under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Eastern Idaho. Genevieve was born July 9, 1918, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Swedish immigrants David Nathaniel Anderson and Ada Sophia Swanson Anderson. Gen's precious mother passed away when Gen was only 10 years old. Her loving father raised his three daughters. He taught them to ice skate and to enjoy life. Gen played the guitar in a string band with him. The three girls would spend their summers with an aunt and uncle on their farm in Grantsburg, Wis., where they would swim and go boating on the lake. It was her "heaven on Earth." When she was 19, she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. She married Calvin James Nelson on Nov. 20, 1941, on Thanksgiving Day, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together Calvin and Gen farmed. Five children were born to this union. They were longtime residents of Paul, Idaho. After Calvin retired in 1991, they moved to Idaho Falls to be near their children and grandchildren. Calvin and Gen enjoyed 62 years of marriage before Calvin passed away Nov. 2, 2003. Gen was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Young Women leader and Relief Society president in addition to various other callings over the years. She and Calvin served a full-time LDS mission in the California Fresno Mission from 1980 to 1982. They served as temple workers in the Boise Temple from 1982 to 1985 and then served in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple for two years. Gen served as a Pink Lady at the Minidoka County Hospital for more than 25 years, and as a member of the Paul Planners Club. Genevieve is survived by her four daughters, Judy (Donald) Aiken, Rita (Michael) Schofield, Donna (Curtis) Maughan, and Beth (Wayne) Campbell of Idaho Falls; a son, Kent Nelson of Wasilla, Ala.; and a sister, Virginia Wicklund of St. Paul, Minn.; 35 grandchildren; and 70 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Calvin; a brother, August Anderson; a sister, Elnora Anderson; and a grandson, Nathan Schofield.
