SOUTH PARIS – Warren G. "Jake" Enos, 94, a former resident of Livermore, passed away Wednesday morning, Oct. 31, 2018, at Maine Veteran's Home in South Paris.
He was born Aug. 16, 1924, in Blackwell, Okla., the son of Claude and Lydia (Walford) Enos. He attended Leavitt Institute in 1940, and later graduated from Leavitt High School in 2001.
On Feb. 22, 1949, he married Ruth Wilkins, in Oxford. They were married for 58 years before her passing, on Sept. 21, 2007. He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII, as a PFC in the 7th Reg. 3rd, INF DIV. He served in North Africa and Italian Theater of Operation, receiving his Purple Heart, with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Good Conduct Medal, the WWII Victory Medal, and Combat Infantryman and Expert Infantryman Badges. He also served in Azio, Sturno and Cortina, Italy.
He worked for the Oxford Paper Company and for Boise Cascade as a power plant lead operator, for 39 years, before retiring in 1986. He was a Past Master of the Whitney Masonic Lodge # 167, in Canton for 50 years, a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Ethelyn Enos of Fla., and Thelma Waite of Turner; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth; his brothers, Elmer, James, Marshall, Clayton and Carlton Enos, and his sisters, Mildred Saenger and Marsha Corette.
The family would like to thank the Maine Veterans Home, in South Paris, for their wonderful care and comfort for Jake, where he resided.
