James F. Chadwick, 82, of Cedar Forest Road, North Smithfield, formerly of Oakdale Avenue, Pawtucket, a retired postal worker, died Jan. 28 at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence.
He was the husband of Mildred (Babbitt) Chadwick. They had been married for 57 years.
Born in Cumberland, a son of the late Joseph and Sarah (Broderick) Chadwick, he had lived in Pawtucket before moving to North Smithfield four years ago. He had been employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Pawtucket for many years before he retired in 1985. He was a member of the Retired Federal Employees Association and the Postal Workers Union. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and was a member of the Cumberland American Legion Post.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, James F. Chadwick Jr. of Pawtucket and Kevin Chadwick of Rehoboth; two daughters, Linda Wood of Agawan, Mass., and Mary-Ellen Flynn of North Smithfield; a brother, Joseph Chadwick in Florida; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
