  St. Louis Post-Dispatch (MO) April 27, 2014 Weddell, David Stover age 96, of Naples, FL passed away January 25th, 2014. David was born March 8th, 1917 in Baltimore, MD to the late George Oliver and Lulu Belle Weddell. David attended Penn State University and earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Upon graduating from M.I.T. he began his lifelong career with Monsanto Chemical Company. In 1943, David married the late Barbara Babbitt, his wife of 60 years. David and Barbara were defined by their love for each other. Their children are blessed with memories of their devotion. Together they began a demanding corporate career that involved many moves and a great deal of travel. In 1953, David and Barbara moved to Geneva, Switzerland with three young children. After seven years in Switzerland the family relocated to St. Louis, MO. David enjoyed golfing, tennis, gardening, classical music, and opera. He and Barbara were intrepid travelers going to places that few Americans had visited. David and Barbara were lifelong learners and constantly encouraged their children and grandchildren to pursue academic achievements. David was a member of Rotary and active with Meals on Wheels. Until his retirement in Naples, he was a faithful member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in St. Louis. David was predeceased by his adored wife Barbara in 2003. He is survived by four children: David B. Weddell of Wilson, NC. Deborah A. Crosswell and husband Robert of Pottsville, PA. Douglas A. Weddell and wife Leslie of Colorado Springs, CO. Laura J. Weddell and husband Stephen J. Trichka of Binghamton, NY. David has eight grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren: Kyley Miller and husband Russ, Ryan Crosswell, Laura Crosswell, Brittany Weddell, Emily Young and husband David, Jacquie Weddell, Josephine Trichka, and Mary Trichka. David's great-grand daughters are Gracen and Hadley Miller. David is also survived by his brother George Weddell and wife Mary Ann of Pittsburgh, PA.
