  Ravalli Republic (MT) October 14, 2001 Robert Jay "Rob" Talbot, 52, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at his home on Oct. 12, 2001. Rob was born on May 26, 1949, in Hamilton, the son of Robert W. and Vi W. Talbot. Rob made his home in Seattle, where he was a practicing criminal attorney. He attended grade school in Hamilton and Fairbanks, Alaska, and graduated from Helena High School in 1967, and went on to obtain a degree in business from Eastern Washington University. He then attended Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash., where he earned a master's degree in business and his master's degree in law. Rob was licensed to practice law in Montana, Washington and Alaska. During the years in which he pursued his education, he was employed by the United States Forest Service for one year as a hot shot crew member followed by five years as a smokejumper based out of both Missoula and Boise, Idaho. Surviving include his life partner, Linda Perry of Seattle; his parents Robert and Vi Talbot of Hamilton; his twin sister Sandra Talbot of Missoula; his niece Laura Kennerly and nephew Michael Kennerly, both of Missoula and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
