Virginia B. Dodd - Dec.15, 1928 to July 27, 2012
Virginia was born in Nevada, Iowa where she is survived by her brother, Paul D. Biddle (Claudia) and their family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Dodd December 7, 2002.
She is survived by her daughter, Ginger L. Meeker (Paul) of Caldwell, Idaho, daughter Debby K. LaBare (Bill) of Chula Vista, California, son Charles L. Dodd (Susie) of Chula Vista, California and Laura Roberts Noble (Larry) of Julian, California who she loved like a daughter. She leaves behind three grandchildren, Shari D. Gray of Spring Valley, California, Stephen C. Jones (Amy) of San Diego, California and Jeffrey P. Jones of Woodbridge, Virginia. She also leaves behind 10 great-grand-children and six great-great- grandchildren.
It was her wish to donate her body for education, research and study. Her brain went to the UCSD Brain Observatory, eye tissue to the S.D. Eye Bank and the remainder to Science Care in Arizona.
Many thanks to Maria Davila for taking such wonderful care of both Virginia and her daughter Debby. She started as a care-giver and soon became family. Virginia truly loved Maria and appreciated all she did for her. Maria stayed until the very end. She was kind, caring and devoted. Virginia was blessed to pass gently, in her own home with dignity and surrounded by love. Even Simon (the cat) knew it was time to say good-bye and was snuggled next to her on the bed when she passed. The Angels from Silverado Hospice made all this possible. Words alone cannot express the exceptional care, love, comfort and support they provided to both Virginia and her family. What an INCREDIBLE team! We will thank God every day for putting Silverado Hospice in our path.
Virginia was the epitome of womanhood; a devoted wife, loving Mother and loyal friend. Many lives were touched by her gentle, giving hands and heart. She had a sharp wit about her and kept her sense of humor until the very end. She was a military wife and followed her husband all over the world creating a loving home at each destination. (California, Virginia, Tennessee, the Philipine Islands, Hawaii, Japan and Okinawa) She worked as a Pediatric back office nurse for many years and then switched to Geriatrics. After retirement she taugh adults to read through the Literacy Program in Chula Vista, California. She will be greatly missed.
