Priscilla MacKnight Ziegel, 88, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Quincy, Massachusetts February 28, 1925.
Priscilla and her family moved to Mariemont, Ohio in 1940. She was an occupational therapist at Good Samaritan Hospital and was one of the first occupational therapists to work in elementary schools in Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati. She worked in the Fort Thomas, Campbell County, and Forest Hills school systems. She helped hundreds of children overcome learning problems in reading, spelling, math, and other areas. She was a 1943 graduate of Mariemont High School and earned her Bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University in 1947. She resided in Fort Thomas and later in Hyde Park in Cincinnati. She lived most recently in the Deupree Cottages Retirement Community in Hyde Park. Priscilla enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and attending church and community activities. She was a member of Christ Church in Fort Thomas and then a member of the Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church. She volunteered at the Cincinnati Flower Show, delivered Meals-on-Wheels, and was a past president of the P.T.A. in the Fort Thomas schools. She traveled throughout the United States, including to Alaska and Hawaii, and to Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, England, and Scotland. Among her fondest childhood memories were long summer vacations back in New England on Cape Cod.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry MacKnight, in 1995 and her second husband, Kenneth Ziegel, in 2011.
She is survived by her children, Suzanne Sparks (Jerry), David MacKnight (Gretchen), Richard MacKnight (Sharon) and Helen Long (Jim); 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren;
Kenneth Ziegels' children, Penny Allen (Paul), Pat Timm, and Jan Taylor (Ed), grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
