  St. Petersburg Times (FL) March 18, 2003 HODGDON, CARLEEN VINAL HASKELL, 89, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday (March 15, 2003). Born in Hartford, Conn., she came here in 1927. She was principal of Shorecrest Preparatory School from 1947 to 1973. Her family ran the school for 48 years, starting with her mother in 1937 and ending with her son, Bruce Vinal Haskell, who stepped down as headmaster in 1985. The school dedicated its library to her last November. She was a founding member of the Florida Council of Independent Schools, serving as a board member and vice president. She also was a volunteer for the Family and Children's Service Centers. Survivors include two sons, Craig Haskell and Bruce Haskell; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
