Marjorie Haskell Barbee, 81, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, 11/6/12 at St. Francis Hospital. She was born on 11/16/30 in Topeka, to Marion P. and Ruth (Corkill) Haskell.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Barbara (Haskell) Rose and Phyllis (Haskell) Rayas, and her husband, Charles J. Barbee, whom she married on 5/16/51.
She is survived by her sisters Marian (Haskell) Perrone and Kathleen (Haskell) Olweiler; sister-in-law Bette (Barbee) Rosebush; her children John Barbee, Larry Barbee, Diane (Barbee) Moore, James Barbee, and Chris Barbee; and the Barbee grandchildren: Corey, Ethan, Jessica, Brandon , Michael, and Nicholas.
Marjorie graduated from Topeka High School in 1948, and attended the school of music at Washburn University from 1948-1951. She was a member of the international music fraternity Sigma Alpha Iota, the Washburn Band, Topeka Civic Orchestra, Washburn Singers, and student director of Washburn Choir. Marjorie loved her family, music, books and reading, and laughter. Her grace, intelligence, talent, affection, honesty, and friendship will be remembered every day.
