ELKHART - Betty Josephine "Jo" Buck, 84, of Elkhart, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013. B e t t y w a s born Aug. 31, 1928, in Milford to Edwin and Pauline Yates Parfitt.
She grew up in South Bend and graduated from John Adams High School, where she cheered on the Eagles and never missed a day of school.
She retired in 1987 from Uniroyal in Mishawaka. She had the distinction of providing several slogans for Uniroyal over the years.
She is survived by her children, Valerie (Gary) Yoder, Terri (Phillip) Wilson and John (Gwen) Buck, all of Elkhart; her grandchildren, Jessica (Jeff) Beard, Nate Yoder, Adam Battocchi, Natalie (Zach) Phillips, Matthew (Lindsay) Wilson, Brian Battocchi, Brannon Buck and Kristie Yoder; her greatgrandchildren, Ellie Phillips, Cameron Beard and Lainey Phillips; her brother, Leslie (Esther) Parfitt of Lincoln, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Kathleen Buck; her brothers, Carroll (Jeanne) Parfitt and Paul Parfitt; two infant sisters, Frieda and Patricia; and her companion, Paul Rouch.
Betty was devoted to her family and her pets most of all. She enjoyed watching Notre Dame football and PGA golf, writing poetry, doing crosswords, keeping up with current events, dancing and lake activities.
