LAKESIDE - Edmund Franklyn Brown, 89, of Lakeside, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012, at Woodland Terrace, Bridgman. Edmund was born on December 9, 1922, in Linwood, New York, to Ralph Warren Brown and Caroline Haskell.
He served his country during WW II in the U.S. Army Air Force as a second lieutenant, serving as a navigator bombardier. After the service, Edmund attended the University of Arizona where he met the mother of his children, Joan Yeager. He then graduated from Notre Dame University. He was a general partner of Yeager Brown Buick in South Bend for 30 years. He was a member of the South Bend Rotary Club for 30 years, the founding president of the Lakeside Association, a reserve deputy sheriff in St. Joseph County, Indiana, a Son of the American Revolution, and a member of the Free Masons. He was also a former member of the Red Cross in Bellaire, MI, and a church elder of the Alden Methodist Church. Edmund loved to cook, garden and shop. He especially loved animals.
He is survived by seven children, Charles Clark Brown of Lakeside, MI, Edmund (Terry) Freeman Brown of Charleston, South Carolina, Anne (Gary) Fahrenbach of Wilmette, IL, Henry Haskell Brown of South Bend, IN, Andrew Breed (Mary) Brown of Lakeside, MI, Catherine Helen Brown (Charles) Lawrence of Compton, England, and Joshua Thomas Brown of Dunwoody, GA; 10 grandchildren; and a sister, Elinor Jordan of Iron Mountain, MI.
According to Edmund's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the River Valley Senior Center.
