  The Journal News October 16, 2004 Herman J. Kahrs, age 73, of Garrison, NY, died on Friday, October 15, 2004 at his residence in Garrison. Born in Union City, NJ on February 7, 1931, he was the son of the late Herman and Bertha (Krohn) Kahrs. Mr. Kahrs was the owner and operator of House of Platzl, Inc. in Pomona, NY. He has been a resident of the Garrison area since 1979 coming from Highland Mills, NY. Mr. Kahrs was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1953-54, a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Philipstown, and the American Legion of Pomona. He is survived by his wife, Maude (Rutheford) Kahrs of the home address. He is also survived by four children: Susan Kahrs of Cold Spring, NY; Stephen Kahrs of Beacon, NY; Eric Kahrs of Bloomington, IN and Kristine Kahrs of Los Angeles, CA. Two brothers: Edward Kahrs of Addison, VT and Robert Kahrs of Utah. In addition three grandchildren: Shay, Alyssa and Ceilidh also survive.
