Gresham resident Richard Allen Boyce, 69, died Friday, Oct. 6, at Providence Portland Medical Center.
He was born June 11, 1937, in Elko, Nev., to Charles and Cora (Abbott) Boyce. He was raised and educated in Seaside, Vernonia and Vancouver, Wash., where he graduated from high school in 1955. He attended college for a short time.
After his graduation, he worked for Jantzen Woolen Mills and later for Coca-Cola. In 1959, he took a job with Pepsi. He retired in 1996 after working for the company for 37 years.
On Dec. 31, 1987, Richard married Beverly Steffanson. They enjoyed traveling to Arizona in the winter and spending time at the family gold mine.
Richard also enjoyed old cars.
Survivors include his wife of Gresham; sons, Danny Boyce of Bend, Jeffery Boyce of Battleground, Wash., and Jason Boyce; daughter Annie 'Shelly' Boyce-Clingman of Portland; stepsons, Bruce Steffanson of Washougal, Wash., Doug Steffanson of Bullhead City, Ariz., and Dean Steffanson and Shane Steffanson, both of Portland; brother, Gary Bellinger of Gaston; sister, Linda Nedrow of Orchards, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
