MOUNTAIN LAKES, N.J. - Charles S. Turpin, 73, of Mountain Lakes, formerly of Worcester and Westboro, Mass., a marketing consultant for many years, died Nov. 23 at home after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of seven years, Elizabeth W. Vernon-Turpin; two sons, William W. Turpin of Tenafly and Charles S. Turpin III of West Stockbridge, Mass.; two daughters, Nancy T. Fortin of Southboro, Mass., and Justine T. Burwick of Shrewsbury, Mass.; two stepsons, John Vernon of Coto de Caza, Calif., and David Vernon of Atlanta; a stepdaughter, Libby Ann Vernon of Lakewood, Colo; two brothers, twin George Turpin of Montecito, Calif., and Peterfield Turpin of Glendale, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.
His first wife, Joanne Turpin, died in 1984.
He was born in Hingham, son of Charles S. Turpin Sr. and Molly (Bassett) Turpin, and lived most of his life in Worcester and Westboro, Mass. He then lived six years in Sudbury, Mass., before moving here in 1987. He graduated from Williams College in Williamstown, Mass. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a flight engineer in the Pacific.
Mr. Turpin founded and was president of Charles Turpin Marketing Services for many years, retiring due to disability last spring.
