Haskell, Alene V. died peacefully on June 15, 2012. Born July 26, 1952 in Gainesville, FL to Albert and Mary Haskell,
Alene was raised at Lake of the Forest, Bonner Springs, Kansas. She later moved to Memphis, Tennessee where she graduated from high school and got her undergraduate degree from Memphis State University. She worked in Memphis briefly as a social worker. Alene received her law degree from Washington University and was a well-respected attorney with Husch Blackwell for over 25 years.
Alene never met a stranger and was committed to helping people in need. She had a special passion for ensuring people with disabilities had full accessibility in the community. Her rare wit and mischievous humor endeared her to many. Alene was a remarkable full time mother, constantly advocating for her disabled daughter. Alene had many interests including photography, playing tennis and spending time with her family and friends at events in St. Louis and at home. She leaves us with many precious memories and will live forever in our hearts.
Alene is survived by her beloved husband Michael Berezo of 26 years, her loving daughter Alison Berezo, her dear brother Daniel (Debbie) Haskell of Nashville, and her aunt Jean Sigler (Bob) of Brewer, Maine.
Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at BJC, The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis, Heavenly Helpers Home Care, and BJC Hospice for taking such good care of her during her illness.
