David Walter Button passed away on November 29, 2018 at the Jack Byrne Hospice and Palliative Care Center at DHMC in Lebanon, New Hampshire. He died from congestive heart failure.
David was born on October 19, 1942 in Montpelier, Vermont, the son of Walter and Ruth (Dodge) Button. He was the eldest of five children and was raised on the family farm on the west hill of Chelsea, Vermont.
He began his education at School House No. 1 and graduated from Chelsea Public High School in 1960. He grew up working on the family farm and delivering grain for Button Brothers Grain Store. He enlisted in the Army Reserves in 1964 and served for 6 years. He started his career as a truck driver in the 1960's working for Tucker Construction. He then worked for Omer Choquette Trucking & Excavating for many years, assisting with the building of interstates 89 and 91. He went to work for McCullough Crushing Inc. in 1987 and worked for them until October 29, 2018. He greatly enjoyed his career and working with his customers.
He married Sandra Elizabeth Smith on October 21, 1972 in Sharon, Vermont. They made their home and raised their children in Chelsea.
David enjoyed sugaring, gardening, trips to Maine, watching Gunsmoke, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and extended family.
David was predeceased by his father and his mother.
He leaves behind his wife Sandra; his daughter Patricia of White River Junction; his son Michael and his wife Michelle of Plainfield, New Hampshire; two grandchildren, Evelyn and Elizabeth of Plainfield, New Hampshire; his siblings Lois Mason of Williston, Vermont, Raymond Button and his wife Jill of Orange, California, Cathy Cerasoli and her husband Gene of Fairlee, Vermont, and Ken Button and his wife Sandy of Middlebury, Vermont; plus many nieces, nephews and cousins.
