  The Signal (Santa Clara, California) August 4, 1998 John Robert Shifferd, 82, died Friday in Valencia after a long illness. He was born March 5, 1916 in Circleville, Ohio. He was raised and educated in Ypslanti, Mich., and worked as an engineer for the Lockheed Misile and Space Center in Sunnyvale, Calif., as well as Lockheed facilities in Burnabk. Shiffer retired in 1981. He enjoyed fishing, boating and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 33 tears, Evelyn Shifferd of Newhall; two sons, Charles Hifferd of San Jose and Darrell (and Kathy) Haskell of Laguna Beach; three daughters Jean (and Clem) Grabner of Carrollton, Texas, Sharon Morrison of Sheel Beach and Janet (and Richard) Yonce of Camaeillo; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four brothers; and one sister.
