  Register of Cadets: VIrginia Military Institute 1902 Haskell, Chester Eugene; San Francisco, Calif.; 7 Mos. 3 wks. _____ San Jose Mercury News August 21, 1910 Palo Alto, Aug. 20. – Chester E. Haskell passed away las evening at the family residence after an illness dating back to the early spring, upon his return from a trip to New York. Immediately upon returning home from the East Mr. Haskell went South for his health, returning to Palo Alto only five weeks ago. Chester was born in San Francisco 29 years ago and at the age of 19 came to Palo Alto with his mother to make his home. Several years ago he opened a men’s furnishing store which he conducted until last year. Mr. Haskell was married to Miss Amy Irene Garoutte, daughter of the late Chief Justice Garoutte, who died this spring in Berkeley. The couple had on son Gerald E., age three years.
