Charles Edward Vickery Jr, passed away suddenly Tuesday March 4th 2008. Born on May 12, 1936 in North Adams, MA. Charles was the son of the late Charles Edward and Eva Adelaide Vickery. Husband of Norma Patenaude Vickery whom he married June 14, 1959.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1958. He attended Siena College and Boston College Law School, graduating from Siena with an accounting degree, making his career as an accountant.
Charles served as a Schaghticoke Town Justice during the 1970s and had a long, involved interest in local politics. He was the co-founder of The Express newspaper in Mechanicville. He was a member of the Brunswick Elks # 2556 with past tenure as ER and DDGER. He currently served as Commander of the Charles Waldron American Legion Post 731 in Schaghticoke, NY. Was a member of the Hemstreet Park Fire Department. He was a passionate collector of local historical ephemera and Christmas collectibles.
Charles was the father of Elizabeth (Howard) Haight of Williamstown, MA, and Charles (Michele) Vickery III of Oxford, PA. He was the devoted Grandfather to Elizabeth (Gregg) Haight – Simmons, Rebecca Haight, Danielle Vickery, and Charles "Chase" Vickery IV and devoted Great Grandfather to Mary Haight. Charles is also survived by sisters Dona (Earl) McLaughlin of Plymouth, MA, Jacklyn Vickery Dyer of Melrose, and Brothers Roger (Yvonne) Vickery of Mechanicville, John (Mildred) Vickery of Schuylerville, and Robert (Helen) Vickery of Brunswick.
He leaves a loving circle of cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Charles was a member of the Mechanicville Methodist Church.
